Gas Networks Ireland Apr 14

** Update Jan 19th 2018 – note change of date and distance **

The Gas Networks Ireland race takes place at a revised Marina 5 mile route this year. Registration is from 5pm at Cork Boat Club in Blackrock village (see map below) with the race starting at 6.30pm up near Lee Rowing Club. Registration will close at 6.15pm to allow runners get to the start which is approximately 1 mile from Cork Boat Club.

Let us know you’re going on the Facebook event page for the race on the Cork BHAA Facebook page.

Parking limitations

There is very limited parking in the area surrounding Cork Boat Club. Like last year, we are trialing a new route and venue for this race so we ask for co-operation in car-pooling/cycling to the venue where possible. The following areas are where you are likely to find parking but these will fill up early so it would be worth getting to registration as close to 5pm as possible.

  1. Car parks on far side of Blackrock Castle.
  2. Parking near Shandon Boat Club where traditionally a lot of people would have parked for Marina 5k races. If you’ve car-pooled, the driver can drop off others who can register for them at Cork Boat Club and meet them at the start.
  3. City side of Blackrock church.
  4. Meadow Grove Estate which is between Blackrock Village and Skehard Rd.

Alternatively, you could get the 202 bus from town.  Check out the timetable.

Note, start and finish are to be determined closer to the date but the race will start on the Marina and take 2 loops of the traditional 5k route around Centre Park Road and Monahan Rd before finishing on the Marina again.
